Spotlight on Glasgow

Many of you will be attending the Commonwealth Games this Summer in Glasgow, so we’re putting the spotlight on Scotland’s vibrant city and providing the ‘go to’ restaurants the city has to offer.

Best for Al Fresco Dining

If this heat wave continues a bit of Al Fresco dining is a must…head to Glasgow’s West End to sample the culinary delights of Cottiers Restaurant, a converted church surrounded by gardens and stone terraces which play host to hungry diners soaking up the sun. The bar menu which has a plethora of starters, mains and desserts, is available to eat on the terrace and a BBQ is on offer during the weekends.

Best Café

If you’re looking for a quick bite to eat then ‘wander’ over to Café Wander to sample the selection of breakfasts, sandwiches, paninis, salads, burgers and jacket potatoes. This humble café located in the city centre, also offers a range of homemade sweets including ‘warm chocolate brownie’ and ‘banana and walnut loaf’.

Best for Seafood

Restaurant 88 or Two Fat Ladies originated in the West End and has since become a staple Seafood restaurant in Glasgow. The first restaurant promised “seriously fishy” dishes that focus on the finest seafood ingredients and remains to its word today. This restaurant is great for a romantic meal for two or a catch up with close friends.

There are hundreds of restaurants in Glasgow so take the time to explore the city and see what it has to offer. And if you’re lucky enough to have tickets to the Commonwealth Games, enjoy!
